On June 7, a law came into force aimed at establishing unified examination procedures in all Russian regions and new procedures for conducting state testing and examinations of foreign citizens in Russia. Each region of the Russian Federation was allowed to have its own list of educational organizations where the examination could be held, as well as to approve procedures and forms of the examination. The new law establishes the procedures for only organizations included in the official list will be able to conduct such examinations.

Testing is held in two days. On the first day the candidate is testing skills of working with written information in Russian, and also knowledge of grammar and lexicon. On the second day the candidate is testing the ability to perceive information in Russian aurally, and also to participate in dialogues, to create and orally reproduce short and connected texts. After successfully passing the test, you will receive certificate of the state sample, confirming knowledge of Russian language at an appropriate level.

Usually the exam is held over a period of 2 days. The TORFL test assesses foreign citizens' skills to express various communicative intentions in the writing form using correct words and phrases, to understand different types of written information in Russian, to comprehend information in Russian given aurally, to participate in dialogues and to produce the monologue according to the proposed subject.
